Mozart Concerto 24

"Here's the gifted pianist Kit Armstrong at nine years of age playing his first Mozart Concerto with an orchestra. I had invited him to play Mozart's A Major Concerto based on a performance I heard at Music Teachers' Association of California Convention in July of that year. Three weeks before this posted performance he asked to play the c minor Concerto - complete with his own cadenza mind you - instead. So here it is - on a program series titled "KIDS PLAY THE DARNDEST THINGS". I'm sure you will enjoy it. BIO: Kit Armstrong (born March 5, 1992 in California) is an American classical pianist and composer. At 10 he had composed more than 15 works, graduated from Los Alamitos High School, and attended university. At 12 he studied at the Curtis Institute of Music, the Royal Academy of Music and the Imperial College in London. He also attended the Chapman University in California, USA. In 2008 he was a co-winner of The ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Awards.

Bach by Armstrong on Liszt's instrument

Kit Armstrong performs Liszt's piano transcription of Bach's Fantasia & Fugue in G Minor live at the C. Bechstein Centrum Berlin on Liszt's C. Bechstein grand piano. The instrument with the piano serial #576 was delivered to Franz Liszt in Weimar on March 17th, 1862.

Le jeune pianiste international Kit Armstrong a acheté une église désaffectée dans l'Aisne pour la transformer en salle de concert et en résidence artistique.

Extrait d'une visite à Beethoven, 1840 :

[...] Ce que je me rappelle, c'est qu'un soir, ayant entendu une symphonie de Beethoven, j’eus dans la nuit un accès de fièvre, je tombai malade, et qu’après mon rétablissement je devins musicien. Cette circonstance peut expliquer la préférence que je donnai constamment dans la suite aux œuvres de Beethoven, quelque belle musique que j’aie maintes fois entendue. C’était pour moi une affection, une idolâtrie à part. Ma plus vive jouissance fut de me plonger dans l’étude intime, approfondie de ce puissant génie, jusqu’à ce que je crus m’être identifié pour ainsi dire avec lui, jusqu’à ce que mon esprit nourri d’inspirations de plus en plus sublimes me parût être devenu une parcelle de ce rare et merveilleux esprit, jusqu’à ce qu’enfin j’arrivai à cet état d’exaltation que bien des gens traitent de démence.

Folie bien tolérable pourtant, et bien inoffensive. Cela ne me procurait qu'un pain fort sec et une boisson fort crue ; car on ne s'enrichit pas en Allemagne à courir le cachet. Après avoir vécu de la sorte assez longtemps dans ma mansarde, je vins un jour à penser que le grand artiste, objet de ma profonde vénération, vivait encore, et j'eus peine à m'expliquer comment cette idée ne m'était pas venue plus tôt. Le fait est que jamais jusque-là je ne m'étais représenté Beethoven sous une forme humaine pareille à la nôtre, et soumis aux besoins et aux appétits de la nature. Et cependant il existait, il vivait à Vienne, et dans une condition à peu près semblable à la mienne. Dès lors je n'eus plus un instant de repos ; toutes mes pensées, tous mes désirs étaient dirigés vers un seul but : voir Beethoven. [...]
